Valerian root, a natural botanical used for thousands of years in traditional medicine, contains a compound called valerenic acid. This inhibits the breakdown of an amino acid called GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) in the brain. GABA is considered an inhibitory neurotransmitter because it blocks certain brain signals and decreases activity in your nervous system (a good thing if you’re seeking sleep). An adult insomnia study found that a single dose of valerian root allowed them to achieve deep sleep 36% faster. Additionally, the time they spent in a deep sleep increased within 14 days of taking it.

Supports the Nervous System

All 4 ingredients in SLEEP DROPS are recognised nervine relaxants, which are natural plant extracts. They provide calming support for the nervous system, responsible for dictating our sleep pattern. Chamomile, valerian root, passionflower and catnip are all known for their relaxing effects on the body, including relieving muscle tension, and help to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. Taking us out of “fight or flight” mode and into relaxation before bed.

Calms the Mind

Passionflower, another gold-standard nervine relaxant, delivers similar results to valerian root, but in a slightly different way. Rather than inhibit the breakdown of the tranquillity-inducing amino acid, gamma-aminobutyric acid, it increases levels of it in the brain. We’ve ramped up the calming abilities of our SLEEP DROPS with the addition of 2 more nervine relaxants: calming chamomile and anxiety-reducing catnip, with all 4 herbs contained in a glycerin (rather than alcohol) base to preserve their benefits.
